STS-5 First Operational Shuttle Mission

STS-5 the first operational mission of the Space Shuttle was launched on November 11, 1982 with the main objectives the first commercial satellite deployments and first Shuttle EVA. The satellite deployments went flawlessly with both satellites operating in geosynchronous orbit. The space suits that were to be used for the first Shuttle EVA suffered malfunctions which prevented their testing. An investigation board was assigned to find cause of the malfunctions. Members included Richard Collonna, Robert Steele, Clay McCullough, John Hoff, John Wagner, Bill Huffster and Henry Pohl. The illustrated cover was autographed by the team members.
