Did anyone else receive one of these? Postmarked on Dec 25th from the APS Center in Bellefonte. Philatelic yes. Interesting, as well.

re: Christmas Cover

Nice cover! Here in PA there is a post office with the same name as my last name. One year we drove there and had them hand cancel all our Christmas cards. Then we waited.. and waited, not a single comment!

So I asked relatives and friends what they thought... not a single one noticed the postmark!

re: Christmas Cover

Great one, Don!

Back when my boys were much younger, we used to take day trips out to explore west Texas. There is a town (of sorts) called Hext. At the time I was selling alot of things online, and I would bring my packages with me to mail them from there. The postmaster loved it as she said they wanted to close down her post office, because there was no mail being generated from there. It is in an area where not many live, just ranchers mostly. I did have one person send me an email asking "Where the heck is Hext, Texas?"

I haven't been out there in many years. From what I can tell, it looks as if it is still open, but like so many other very low volume post offices, they are only open about four hours or less a day now.

A while back someone was telling me about a small post office, where they went there mid afternoon, and it was closed with a sign "Be Back at 4pm", and they were complaining to someone about the lax hours and long lunch at that post office when the person interrupted, "oh no, the postmaster also drives the school bus!" What a small town!
