Blue £ 650.00;Green £ 6500.00
Egads! Seriously? Really too bad the margins are poor, eh?
Thanks for finding it. Where was this listed? Gibbons?
Peter
The blue is in the Concise Catalogue the green in the specialised. They would have to be in much better condition.
Peter, compared to what the value of the stamp would be with a black cancel, the colored cancels will net you much more. Still a win-win despite the condition.
I'm not selling these; they will join my other GB Vickies. But it raises an interesting question about insurance. Given the condition and valuation, should stamps such as these be considered in my estimate for insurance coverage?
Peter
Depends on how much coverage you want as a percentage of the catalog value of your collection. Like I said on another post, if it cats over $10, that's a good benchmark to use for inclusion, then take a discount from the total to get closer to market value.
I checked my covers with Penny Reds but they are all black cancels. However, a couple have bluish date stamps. I doubt this "counts" as the green cancel as they were arrival cancels on the back.

Does Gibbons or another reference book give valuations for penny reds with green or blue cancels? Here are some examples that I have; I wish they had better margins, but hey, you can't have everything!
Thanks for any info you can provide.
