Based on Dan's response, I'm guessing what you heard really was just a rumor. I don't purport to be an expert, but I've been dabbling in U.S. revenues for over 30 years (and collecting as seriously as my budget will permit for about 10), and I also have never heard of fake Walker & Taylors.

David,

Why do you insist upon lecturing people who reply to your threads? That really is VERY annoying. I'm sure Rusty was just giving context and/or qualifiers to his reply. There's nothing wrong with what he said at all.

Between this and your admonishment regarding your images, if you keep this up, people will simply stop replying to your threads... Sad

I was not going to get involved in this, but as a member and a moderator, I have a couple things to say.

First, rustyc's response:

"Based on Dan's response, I'm guessing what you heard really was just a rumor. I don't purport to be an expert, but I've been dabbling in U.S. revenues for over 30 years (and collecting as seriously as my budget will permit for about 10), and I also have never heard of fake Walker & Taylors."

This is a knowledgeable response. He is telling you that what your heard was a rumor based on his many, many years of collecting revenues. It belongs exactly where it is: on the discussion board. There is no need for him to have PM'd you this information.

Second, this is a philatelic discussion board. Although a person may be looking for what they consider to be "knowledgeable" responses, every response is worthy and every response is likely to help someone, if not the person who started the thread. That's the beauty of a discussion board: threads become a compilation of knowledge from many members and can be referred to now or any time in the future to help other collectors.

Well said, Lisa, not about me, but about how discussion boards should work. Most of us have seen threads morph in many interesting directions once the original poster has started the ball rolling.

And David, although I really wasn't personally offended by your response, I thank you for your apology. I don't post often on this board but have enjoyed following the numerous threads you have started about revenues that are outside my area of concentration.
