It's a little more complicated than just getting a catalog value. Unfortunately, fake overprints abound. Even on the genuine overprints, there are 3 types on stamps and an additional type on stationery

This pdf will give you some idea of the minefield of these stamps and that's without the numerous fakes mentioned.

re: GNR overprints value??

As Nelson's link well shows, any collection of GNR overprints is likely to have several gaps, prices ranging from cheap and moderately cheap to extremely expensive (or, more likely, so rare that you'll never see them, and when you do you'd better watch out for fakes).

I suppose it's entirely possible that certain of these overprints, like so many made in wartime Europe, were manufactured on the orders of men who felt that the making and subsequent hoarding of rare stamps might provide a handy source of income in the event of hasty withdrawal from their sphere of operations. Some of the Aegean Islands occupation overprints come under this heading. Stamp collecting was a common hobby among officers of all armies: some collections were looted as the victors' spoils, others literally created as insurance for the vanquished!

(Small point, but I suspect this thread might more accurately be placed in "Europe - Other" than "Germany", since we are talking about Italian stamps overprinted in Italy.)

I was concerned about this with a post just an hour ago, which I posted to "General Philatelic Topics" rather than "Great Britain," where it properly belongs. My reasoning was that the information I was offering is useful to all collectors, not just those of British and British-area stamps. I think that we can all benefit from the details of individual issues, which may well apply to stamps in our own collecting areas.
