Hi Everyone,
I have a request from a contact on our Facebook page, wondering if the stamps that he has have any value. Can anyone help me with this? I'm firstly overcommitted on on time and secondly have no knowledge of these stamps. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards ... Tim.

Tim, overall the stamps appear to be regular common stamps that are easily obtained. The last image purports to be an unused Russia #1. However, that will need to be certified. At the least it probably had the cancel removed, if it is genuine.

I also see alot of damage with tears, toning, hinging. Nothing to write home about from what I've seen, except possibly the Russian stamp, if it's genuine.

Those 1956 Olympic Winter Sports stamps look suspicious; I'm not sure Ukrainian Architecture was included that year.

(Tracing the roots of the Spanish Civil War back to Zagreb in 1918, even provisionally, may also be a step too far, even for the most easy-going topical collector.)

Tim,

The image for the Russian stamp has been lifted from the internet, i.e., an ebay auction:

Identical image as above offered on ebay (note owners signature on image at bottom left)

Your "contact from facebook" appears to take us for fools by having us look at a bunch of Yugo/Turkish cheapies, and throwing in a rare one from the internet to pull our strings.

Not knowing anything else, I believe that we are done with this thread. Based on what I am seeing, I would not recommend the person applying for membership here.

Arno

great catch indeed, Arno. Sometimes, as you demonstrate, we miss the obvious trying to be helpful.
