You've taken that first step, Tom. Now the journey begins in earnest! I have been a "scattered" collector for over 50 years, and though I keep saying I'll find an area to concentrate on, every time I think I'm close, something new appears over the horizon. But that's OK by me - new adventures are always just a dream away!
Glad you jumped into the fire, Tom - welcome!
If you have any questions at all, this group will graciously assist you in any way they can.

Tom, you are the first fireman I know of who collects. Glad you're here.
Hi Tom;
It's always nice to welcome new members on here and we are always here to help. It would be interesting
if you could tell us how you heard about our club.
What areas of interest did your collection include when you were a youngster?
Hope that you enjoy all your time spent with us!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
I found this club through a Google search and found it was chock full of information and the members seemed very nice.
When I was young, I had a small worldwide album that I used and also had some US and whatever people gave me! Wish I still had it just for nostalgia. There was nothing worth very much but it would have been cool to rediscover it.

Hi Tom.
So you have a mother who threw away things too. Join the club. Mine threw away almost everything that I had when I went away to college. That included shoe boxes full of baseball cards that I had collected for over a dozen years. Plenty of 1950s and 1960s cards too. Imagine all those rookie cards.....$$$$ lost.
There are plenty of firefighting-related stamps, if you were thinking of doing a topical on your profession.
Hi Tom
I am a retired Philadelphia Firefighter. You're right, not a lot of Firefighters that collect stamps. There is a club for folks who collect fire related stamps.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks Vince and Michael! I will check out those links. I have couple of fire service related stamps. Another tangent for me to go on ðŸ˜
Welcome Tom,
I lived in North Scituate, RI for a couple of years back around the turn of the century (boy, it still sounds funny to say that ).
I collect WW classic-era stamps (1840-1940).
Hello everyone,
I joined this club about two months ago but I am just getting around to posting an introduction. I have found this place to be a great source of information. I collected stamps as a youngster and I am getting back into it again. Unfortunately, my mom got rid of my old album so I am starting fresh. I am from Rhode Island and lived here all of my life (except some time in the Army). I am a lieutenant on a fire department of a medium-sized city. Not many firefighters I know that are into stamp collecting but I've always kind of done my own thing! My wife makes fun of my new obsession but she does support me. I am concentrating mostly on US now but I have interests in Great Britain, Ireland, and Austria as well as other European countries. As my collection grows, I seem to find other interests as well. At some point, it will get out of hand! Hopefully now that I have broken the ice here, it will encourage me to post more.
