Having grown up in Memphis, Tennessee and being a huge Elvis fan I gotta love this stamp! Elvis used to ride his harley around midtown with his cronies at night so he wouldn't be recognized. He touched many people with his music. Awesome stamp!
How many artists, writers or performance artists have been featured on two?

Technically, this will be Elvis' fourth stamp: Scott #2721, 2724, 2731 and the new one to come. There will be three face-different stamps when the new stamp is issued.

.....and proud owner of every commercially released song and alternate take he did;
His music is heard in my home nearly every day.
I will DEFINITELY be on board for this one.
He was not only the King of Rock & Roll - he was the King of Cool.

Another Elvis series that will be issued in the millions and the public will eat them up. And of course the volume issued will insure that they will never be worth much, but every non-collector will be thinking that they're going to send their kids to college when they cash them in!

Wow, so glad there are so many Elvis fans here with me. Thanks for the links to the stamps I had only heard about it but hadn't seen it yet, I will also definitely be getting these!!! Thanks for the info guys!

@jessica, Elvis fan? You betcha. He's not the best selling stamp in US history for nothin! Also, relating to another thread, he was very much ahead of his time regarding race relations. Used to sneak into black churches in Mississippi and sit in the back and watch the people sing. Several of his songs dealt with race relations which, considering his fan base, was quite courageous. Long live the king!

Yes, I remember those - still have a box full!
Still have the ones issued the year after his death too, in 1978.
Lots of memorabilia of his in THIS household!
Most prized possession are my 2 Sun label 45's; "Mystery Train" and "Good Rockin' Tonight", which I acquired by trading 2 mint copies of Hank Williams 78's on MGM.
Needless to say, I got the better deal

One day, I was walking along "junk store" row in Syracuse. Outside on a sidewalk table I saw a 78 RPM record. I looked at it. It was "heartbreak Hotel" on an RCA label. I bought it for 50 cents. The next week, Elvis died. It's worth alot more than 50 cents today. Too bad it wasn't on a Sun label, though. Would be worth much more!

Haven't seen that cuisine book in a long time. I did a book review for the Grand Rapids Press when it was released. At some point, I suggested the local rag allow me to travel to Memphis for the 20th Anniversary of Elvis' death in 1997. They agreed and I filed stories & photos down there, each day for about a week. I toured Graceland, of course, interviewed dozens of Elvis impersonators, including one from Niles, Michigan (had previously written a feature on him--before his Evlis persona transformation, he was an exotic dancer), one from Germany and just generally enjoyed being in the middle of the chaos.

I was listening to Elvis radio on siriux XM and they said there was a new Elvis stamp going to be released, but they made it sound like it would only be released at Graceland. Any idea of this? I believe they said the release date was Aug 12
