I love this stuff.....thankyou
They are called small sheets of paper folded peel ( with a maximum size of 10 x 5 cm ) that were sent to Metz, besieged August 19, 1870 by the Prussians. This mail was transported by means of small free balloons ( " airships " inflated with hydrogen) of a meter in diameter and height 1.50m .
NOT PARIS
Christophe (Marco25fr): There were many besieged towns which used different methods to get mail out. But Y&T is very explicit, with a very detailed description and pricing information, and even pictures of covers to boot, about it being Paris.

1870 I think.
Fascinating!
Always been intrigued by the "Ballons Montes" and the "Boules de Moulins" used during the Paris siege of 1870-1871. (hot air ballons and floating spheres of metal containing the mail).
