e.g. I came across an offer for proof sheets on Ebay for $75 for three stamps with a 2013 MNH value of $2.35 for the stamps. Sounds way out of line to me.

Proof sheets of what? Modern U.S.? 19th century U.S.? You posted this in the Back of book section, so it could be anything.

Values of proofs do not necessarily correlate to the value of the stamps they represent.
