It does have that appearance, the technology in those days may have been a lot better than we originally thought, I also like the centring of this block. There is another one that goes with this though I do not have it yet. The other shows a more prominent cracked plate, both varieties are scarce.
With this stamp the retouching affected the right eye making it look lifeless.
When I get the other $1 retouched stamp I'll add it to this thread.

The retouched area is from the sail to the eye as seen on the bottom left stamp.
