Our Approval Books rules are vague I know, but rule 4 states: #4 The book offers stamps in topics clearly described by its title?

There is NO worldwide category allowed...as a matter of fact, there is no legitimate place to put it!
Worldwide, just like Stamps, Duplicates, Miscellaneous, A bit of everything, Floor dropings...etc... are just equally NOT acceptable.
This is a "heads up" note that I will now remove books that are not meeting our title rule intent. I have written personally to some to influence the practice..and all have been very cooperative, they are not to blame..the rule which is too vague is. But unless I am a bit more forecefull, keeping the books on active mode just seem to reinforce the practice, by giving a bad example to others.

Now here is a clarification about the intent of the rule: The title should be specific enough to allow a collector to know the book content without having to open it and search through every page..it is just a courtesy.

Even a title such as France, or Germany, or Britain, while acceptable in our rule and I will accept, could and should offer more details, as these are huge collectible areas, so please consider adding more informnation such as: a range of years, a range of catalog numbers, a date (pre-1940, for example), condition ( MNH ), Back of the book, definitives, with duplicates, with cat numbers, etc...or any other description that makes it more precise.
Now, you are limited in the book title to just a few line, so please add a precise, concise and simple description in your titles!

Use the following guideline: Is the title telling a fellow collector who collects only a certain limited range of philathelic material about its content without him/her having to look through every page. We want to encourage collecting and trading, not run a business model that forces people to look through every page of every book just to know if they will find what they collect. So be considerate to your fellow collectors.

Thanks in advance,
Ralph (Approval Books moderator)

Once more if you did not see this: the Approval Book rule 4 states: #4 The book offers stamps in topics clearly described by its title?

There is NO worldwide category allowed...as a matter of fact, there is no legitimate place to put it!
Worldwide, just like Stamps, Duplicates, Miscellaneous, A bit of everything, Floor dropings...etc... are just equally NOT acceptable. They are just...if you excuse my judgement, a bit lazy...or you are not paying attention.
Book should be structured to help collectors find stamps they want. They are not a puzzle, or a mystery treasure hunt! The potential buyer should not have to look through every page to find what they need. While it may be an acceptable business model for some, it is not showing any compassion to your fellow collectors in a club..and we are a club.

Thanks for keeping it in mind.

for those who have sweepings (of sound stamps, mind you), the appropriate category would be Mixtures in the AUCTION.

@Ian: In the main Category list, is included:

COVERS & POSTCARDS
REVENUES, CINDERELLAS & SEALS
TOPICALS
PHILATELIC RELATED: SUPPLIES, PUBLICATIONS ETC

There is no room for any other OTHER.

Quite frankly, while some like rummaging in the "Treasure Chest" with all the loose stamps, most collectors do it only because there is no other way, or they are bored.
There IS another way here!

If Approval Books would allow it, it would unfortunately make the product less and less attractive. Part of the success of Approval Books is because it is a well organized product. And sellers have been generous with their time by making titles and book content better and better with time. This allows buyers to explore easily and efficiently.

From a personal stand point, I did not contribute more than 6 months to help the design of Approvals to see it turned into a grab bag of floor droppings! I am afraid this is already a problem I try to discourage as the Moderator...without making it a legitimate option.
So NO, I don't think it is a good idea, not under my watch, and not by a concensus of the design team as well....this has been discussed at length and rejected.

But if you like sorting through random envelopes of "stuff" I will gladly mail you one to pick through....Big Grinlol
