Blair,

That first show is always like a kid transported to his very own Toyland.......!

I remember the first one I went to; didn't know where to begin, but couldn't wait to do so and didn't want it to end. Happy

You have thus been baptized, my friend!

Nice goin'!

re: My First Stamp show - Florex

Based upon the images, the silk papers look legit. The first one, not solely due to the circled thread, but more the presence of what appear to be other blue threads. Be careful about large "threads" that may or may not be embedded in the paper, but might actually be debris stuck to the back of the stamp. More than one silk paper has turned to poo because the silk thread(s) brushed or washed away.

Also, be wary of things that are circled/marked that are not blue. Grey, brown, black, etc., are NOT silk threads. I see this a lot in dealer inventories, the marking of ANY foreign matter on the back of the stamp as a silk paper. Not so.

re: My First Stamp show - Florex

Thanks for looking at these for me. The gentleman I bought these from seemed very knowledgeable and to be honest I played totally dumb though I have learned quite a bit by reading your page etc.
He told me that silk paper revenues are far rarer than their book value would lead one to believe (he had 10s of thousands of revenues amd a total of 6 silk paper revenues). He also told me that looking at them only under 10x magnification was not enough. I had my 10x loupe with me. He handed me a lighted 20x magnifier and as I was looking at the stamp explained that the thread will ALWAYS be blue or VERY rarely red, no other color period. and that the color and weight of the paper were very important. The same things you explained both in responses here on the forum and on your web page.

All that he told me and showed me meshed up 100% with what you told me and the information on your web page so I felt comfortable buying these.

Thanks again,
Blair
