Hi Rob,
Thanks for posting these, they are some of my favorite New Zealand stamps.
Regards ... Tim.
Beautiful stamps!

For most countries of the British area I cut my collection off at 1952; for NZ, however, I include the early issues of the QEII era, for obvious reasons! Very pretty set, Rob!
Thanks David, auldstampguy & Bobby. I usually collect countries with a cut off point as well, what I look for are the scarce and rare issues as well as any varieties etc.
I'll eventually be looking at US stamps, there are so many and can be very difficult to decipher them, I am though building up a library of catalogues relating to scarce and rare US stamps.
Unfortunately Australia has very little in the way of dealers dealing in such US stamps (as far as I have ascertained).
The set above is for sale, I just upgraded to MUH.

After the death of King George VI at the age of 56 on February 6, 1952, it was decided to replace the late king’s stamps set as soon as possible with a new Queen Elizabeth II definitive issue. The denominations were similar to the George VI issue but there was no five penny stamp and the 1/3 and 2/- stamps were replaced by a 1/6 stamp. 5/- and 10/- stamps were also included in the new issues.
With the exception of the 1½d stamp which due to a stamp shortage was issued in mid-December 1953 to meet the Christmas demand, the rest of the set were issued on March 1, 1954.
The 1/9 and 2/6 values were added in 1957 to cover increases in airmail and parcel rates.
This issue was the first to dispense with the inscription 'Postage & Revenue' after it was decided that it was no longer necessary to incorporate these words on stamps
Many complaints were received, especially from elderly people, about how difficult it was to read the figures on the low denomination stamps and in 1955 the designs were altered.
Shown is the complete set (16 in all), this collection is well centred and slightly hinged (still a beautiful scarce set). As a rule I normally do not collect mint hinged stamps; soon this set will be replaced with a set in superb mint unhinged condition.
