He sounds highly entertaining!

Thanks Nigel for that link. That fleshes things out a bit. Shame that a photograph of him was omitted in the article. When I get time, I'll see if I can find one.
He reminds me a great deal of Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Defender of Mexico.
I pride myself on my cache of worthless knowledge, but Doe just one upped me! I had to Google Norton I and, my, what an intriguing character. Read about him HERE
Here's a 1966 cover that arrived today, which is a real odd-ball.
This was sent by Brigadier General the Prince of Condé. He is a bit of an enigma: Former US Army Officer, a General for the Royalist forces during the Yemeni Civil War, a Royal imposter and a stamp collector.
I can't find much more about him, which is a bit strange, as he sent numerous lavishly decorated envelopes across the world.
I found another reference to him on an earlier cover, sent in 1964. He was then known as Lt. Col. Abdurrahman Condé.
The addressee is rather curious. Felix Catfood; a large and very well known company in the UK.
