That watermark has me stumped:
Ningpo!
On the serious side, no, really, the serious side.
Why aren't the sellers on eBay describing the stamps anymore? There have been several sellers I've looked into and when I scroll down to the description, it has all this stuff about who they are, where they've shipped to in the world and nothing about the stamp or lot, the condition or any other information. Am I asking too much for a little bit of information about the stamp? Like this one, HINGED AND PAPER RESIDUE? Would that be too much? Or even the watermark, that would've been something. Or am I not looking in the correct area?
Well strangely enough, I was looking at this feeble offering from big eBay seller (and retail outlet) Rushstamps. This is how they list everything. In this case though, they use the scuddy scrap of paper to describe the printing flaw. The trouble is, that scrap doesn't indicate where the flaw is; not helped by the low res scan:
Sellers like this are just plain lazy and are more concerned about, as purfinn2 put it, who they are and shipping conditions. The first sentence below is always used by this seller, which is neither use nor ornament:
"DESCRIPTION SAME AS TITLE AND PHOTO/SCAN
CONDITIONS OF SALE
PAYPAL Payments To: ebaysales@rushstamps.co.uk
COMBINED POSTAGE AND PACKING. We are always happy to combine postage on multiple purchases.
WHERE APPLICABLE, DISPLAY CARDS ARE NOT INCLUDED TO SAVE POSTAGE COSTS!
"MIXED CONDITION" LOTS MAY INCLUDE A PROPORTION OF DAMAGED STAMPS AS ORIGINALLY COLLECTED AT THE TIME, AND ARE UNSORTED AND UNCHECKED, AND ARE NOT RETURNABLE.
“AS IS†MEANS WE ARE NOT CERTAIN OF THE ORIGIN OF THE LOT, OR ITS ORIGINALITY OR GENUINENESS, AND THEREFORE THE LOT IS SOLD AT THE BUYERS RISK (CAVEAT EMPTOR).
ALL STAMPS UNMOUNTED MINT (U/M or MNH) UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED OR SHOWN IN PHOTO (MIXED SELECTION/ON PAGES EXCEPTED).
PAYMENT - Payment is required within 10 days of the Auction or Buy It Now items. We prefer PayPal (in £ Sterling, US Dollars or Euros) however Postal Orders or Bank Drafts in Pound Sterling are acceptable. Cheques accepted Payable to "RUSHSTAMPS" (UK cheques allow 7 days - Foreign cheques up to 30 days to clear) When cleared, goods will be dispatched. Cash by Registered/Special Delivery. Foreign Currencies will be converted and credited at the current rate of exchange less any bank charges.
All items are sent at customers own risk unless we use Special Delivery/International Signed For/Recorded Delivery.
WE OBTAIN A RECEIPT OF POSTING ON EVERY SHIPMENT.
ROYAL MAIL POSTAL COSTS (New Lower rates)
UK Shipping - 80p for standard first class up to 100 grams, £2.50 for larger (heavier items).

Items with a combined value of less than £50 will be mailed by standard delivery (unless an alternative option is chosen and paid for at your own risk). So I'm not the only one who doesn't care about all that jibber-jabber. I just want to know the true condition of the stamp.
Times sure have changed.
"... Am I asking too much for a little bit of information about the stamp? ..."
Ouch - just the perf damage alone should raise their eyebrow at the selling price. A space filler until a good issue is located, perhaps - but there's nothing there to verify that it actually IS the stamp the seller purports it to be!
Just to chime in here on this discussion about deficiencies in seller item descriptions on other sites, at Stamporama we take a different view of things for the benefit of the buyer.
On Stamporama, the image/photograph is not sufficient. Sellers are required to enter in their description all defects relating to the item being sold even if the defect is visible in the image/photograph.

I guess I'm still old school with the seller describing the state of the stamp instead of relying on what could be a bad scan.
I have an on-line store and I do take the time to describe the stamp.
I also understand eBay has changed it's format, a lot. I still do not understand why a seller can not take one sentence and describe the stamp and then do all the jibber jabber.
JMHO
Just seen this on that other sales site, will someone actually be that stupid to spend what they are asking.
