Hi Kelly,
Let me know how you make out with the scanner. I am always looking for more toys. It looks like it will be good for scanning pages in thick books that don't fit on the scanner bed.
Vince
Yes it does well and if you have a book that has a tight binding you can scan side to side and then just flip the jpg.
Will definitely update you once I've used it a few more times.
I wanted something like this because I have limited hand usage due to my spinal cord injury and I figured if I can handle it, anyone can
It comes with a protector pouch too which is really nice.
I'm really looking forward to filling up a stockbook and creating some approvals with it. I'll put up a sampler on here of a page once I've pulled out something to scan - it scans black and white or colour plus 300, 600 or 900 dpi.
The software also allows you to scan multiple pages and put them together as one pdf.
Super cool gadget!!! Can you upload a sample for us to see - when you get time - no hurry.
That would be awesome for folks who don't have looseleaf albums. Dang - technology has really given us collectors some spiffy handy dandy toys. Thanks for sharing, Kelly.
Here's my first trial on a stockbook - I had to reduce the size of the page to fit here but it came out REALLY well.
I scanned from the bottom of the page so it wouldn't "catch" any of the stamps. I opened "Paint" but you can use any photo editor and then since I started from the bottom, I just had to flip the picture. I'm still not sure as to the speed to use as I scan the page so I'm going to have to experiment with that. Plus I'm not sure what dpi it is set at right now - I forgot to check before I scanned the page. I'm pretty sure it is set up pretty high because I had to reduce the size in the paint program significantly to put it just under 300kb. It scanned at I think 2.5mb.
I have an unsteady hand and yet gently placing one hand on each side and slowly rolling the scanner up the page - it worked amazing! So for anyone with full use of their hands, it would be a cinch or even someone who does have unsteady or not full use of your hands, obviously it works great!
Awesome image, Kelly......
might have to look into one of those myself.
Technology - what a concept!

Thanks for sharing, Kelly. I'm putting this on my To Buy list.
Kelly, do you think that if you placed the page in something that had a recessed bottom and put the wand on the edges that it would scan the stamps properly and clearly? (Sorry for my non-technical terminology!) There'd be little risk of damage to the stamps that way if it scanned the image correctly.
Yes, Kelly .....
Scanner technology has come quite a long ways. I just ordered the IRIScan Book 3 Executive which is much the same model as yours. The Executive, however, does not require a computer.
It is battery operated and scans directly to an onboard MicroSD memory card. So I can go to the library or stampshow and scan away. Then pop the memory card into my laptop or workstation at home later and upload all of the scans that I have made. It will also send scans to my phone or tablet.
It is currently on sale for about $95.00 and there is a $15 rebate offer running through January 31st.
I have read several reviews on these on Amazon. Bring many extra batteries if you're planning to scan many pages. Let us know here of your experiences.

Mine works with batteries and micro sd card too. You got the one that includes the Wi-Fi, mine has the usb. The Wi-Fi would have been nice but dough is stretched thin in my house so I got the other one at a Boxing Day sale - still a bit over my budget but it was something I could justify because it's really hard for me to use a scanner bed because of my hands.
Tad is right and make sure you get a higher sd card - mine came with a 2gb - so if you're going to use it at shows, etc - get yourself a 32 or 64gb card.
Michael - good thought. It really scanned extremely clear. For me it's just a matter of learning the speed to move the scanner. Plus remember I can't feel my hands so I can't feel the scanner! I just laid it down on the stockbook and gently moved it upwards and it worked great.
I bought myself a gift for Boxing Day and finally got around to opening it yesterday and setting it up. It's really cool.
It's a hand held scanner that you can use either portable with batteries and an SD card or just connect it to your computer using the USB and scan it directly into Paint or whatever program you want to create your jpgs (it also creates Word and PDF).
It'a about 12" long and you just lay it down on the page and slowly move it down (or up or sideways - depending on which works best for you). Really easy to use even with just one hand.
I got it so that I can put my Approvals into a stockbook and then just scan them from there instead of putting them into Varios and moving them around and the hassle of trying to set the page into the scanner on my printer which takes a lot of doings for me.
This way I can just set up the stamps in the stockbook the way I want, scan it and put in my numbers and not worry about moving the stamps from place to place and mixing everything up.
It looks like they've come out with another one that has wifi so that bypasses your needing the USB.
Here's mine:
