Image Not Found I had been very active in stamp collecting for many years. Also into model trains and amateur radio so have gotten way behind in my stamp collecting. I collect US {All US}Canada used and Newfoundland. I have boxes and glasseen envelopes with hundreds of worldwide stamps that I am not interested in. The last supplements in my Scott National album was 1997 so that is going to be something to catch up. I was collecting mint US and have almost all mint from the 40s through the 90s. I think that when I slowed down collecting was when the US started putting out so many new stamps each year I decided to collect used,so that is what I intend to do is collect used US from 1998 to now.I don't have Canada from about the same time. Also interested in US postal cards and envelopes and covers.

Nice radios, Bill. Did you send out a lot of QSL cards?

And just go to your profile and you can download your avatar there.

Welcome aboard, Bill!

There are several model railroaders here. Nice to have another one join our ranks!

What are your modeling railroading interests? I model the New Haven and New York Central Railroads.

Bill,
Thanks for the QSL and welcome aboard. We've got a great group of stamp collectors here, many into other hobbies as well. I used to talk skip all of the time, when I was a CB'er, on my President Washington SSB, with a lot of extra freq's inside, barefoot using only a D104 and sending and receiving plenty of QSL cards. Unfortunately the radio has been sitting in storage for about 20 years, basically since getting back into the wonderful world of stamp collecting.

re: A restart from Indiana

Welcome, fellow Hoosier! I'm too lazy to look at a map, but assume you're up north near Michigan City.

I no longer collect stamps and am slowly selling my accumulation. I haven't lost interest in the hobby and find this a great place to keep in touch with what's going on.

I never got my ham license, but was an active SWL (loved experimenting with antenna configurations!) for over 30 years beginning in the early '60s. I miss both hobbies, but haven't had time for either in the past decade or two. My recent "retirement" hasn't changed that!

If I had had another hobby, it would probably have been model railroading! I'm impressed with the level of detail that these guys can achieve.

My hobbies these days consist of digitizing Indiana history generally, primarily several thousand early 20th century postcards that can be viewed here

https://www.flickr.com/photos/hoosier_recollections/

or here if LaPorte County history is of any interest.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/hoosier_recollections/albums/72157627752732475

In my spare time, I'm digitizing my family genealogy and local history info. I'll be lucky if I live long enough to work through my backlogs!

Tom

Welcome!

I just recently got back into stamps myself, after many years of being a work-slave. Retired with time on my hands now. Just finished organizing my child-hood world wide collection -- removed the stamps from old binders and placed into stock books.

Now I collect Great Britain and Australia. Having a ball.

Cheers from central Florida,
Eric

Thanks for all the nice replyes. I am in northern Indiana on the southeast shore of Lake Michigan. Michigan City. Also like to chase the largemouth and smallmouth bass. Looked in my Scott National album and the last suplement was 1997. Gonna cost a little to get that up to date. My Canadas album was last updated the same year. I was driveing 18 wheeler over the road in those days and all my activities fell to the wayside. I can play now that I am retired.

I recently came into half-a-hundred postcards sent to friends/family back home by a trucker couple as they tooled about the USA.

Q/ Did you happen to run across Deb'n'Dave?
