I wonder if someone could give me some idea as to what these are. I have tried
the internet, but it is a little vague.

Hi Vernon,

The stamp on the left, "Remember the Starving" is an Austrian label. I've seen a post card with one used from Vienna in 1921.

The stamp on the right "Cross-Penny-Collection 1914", is a German charity label in aid of the Red Cross.

How many pfennigs does it take to make a Franc ?

It depends on whether you want mustard and onions with it.
