I know nothing about Album Easy, but I am sure you will need to be more specific about your problem to receive help. Helpful information includes exactly what steps you have performed, what you expected to happen and what actually happened. All I can tell now is you opened Album Easy and somehow the screen is frozen and you can't enter any input or otherwise interact with the program.

What operating system and version are you running? Is that compatible with the Album Easy recommendations?

Not sure if I got this right, but is the heading the sole source of the question?

David, don't be confused. Someone (karlfry) opened this topic with a question. Then, after Hungary posted his response, karlfry deleted his post, leaving Hungary to look like he responded to an unanswered question.
(Either that or Hungary's expecting someone to pose the question any minute now.Laughing)

Hi Ted,

Thanks for that. I thought I had missed something. Apparently I did, that being the original post.

Bit rude removing a post once it has been answered.

Cheers,
David.

I don't think I deleted it. But as I said not real computer savey. Sorry that I am rude or thought of as rude. I will try to work on that. I will watch what and how I post in the future.

Cheer's to you!

I have a Windows 10 Gateway computer. I downloaded album easy and from that point I have no clue as to how to make pages or anything else.

I wish to thank everyone in advance for their time and help.

Please have a great day!!

I downloaded Album Easy and per most things in life, anything with easy in the title generally isn't. You are much better finding a more mainstream graphics program and drawing pages there. I'd say Microsoft Word, which most folks use would work. Others suggest Power Point which is good since it's very easy to manipulate graphics. I use Microsoft Publisher, which is probably how I'd do mine. The good part about Microsoft products is that they all have the same commands and act similar, so your learning curve is reduced.

re: Not computer smart, need some help using album easy.

Not having looked at this before, I just went to the website and read through the content.
Then downloaded the program, first thoughts are that is extremely messy and time consuming, especially as you cannot open the text files by drag/drop or by clicking them.
It would have been a better idea to merely have pre-sized image boxes that could be dragged and dropped onto a page. Stamps basically come in regular shapes and sizes (think Mounts).
My personal preference would be to spend a few dollars on Bill Steiners pages, where the layout and box size is already done and alter if necessary in an appropriate program. Search within Stamporama for related threads.
The program is anything but easy or intuitive to use and the help file not user friendly at all.
My personal thoughts, now to go finish cooking Sunday lunch, then back to the garden.

re: Not computer smart, need some help using album easy.

Karl,
A while back, I downloaded AlbumEasy and it took over a month for me to figure out how it worked. I have since abandoned it.

The programming closely resembles the process you would follow with HTML code (which was also text based), but with it's own set of commands. They give you a sample text file, which I would process, then alter some lines and see what results it had after processing.

I was using EZStamp by Softpro database (http://ezstamp.com/) for keeping my catalog, so I went ahead and sank the bucks into their product AlbumGen which is a graphical interface (much easier to use). If you have MS Office, you might be able to use Word or Powerpoint to create your pages too

Thanks to all for their help. I think I too will find something else to use. I found Freestampalbum.com it is very easy but also very simple in what it can do. But it looks as if it will meet my needs.

Thanks once more

re: Not computer smart, need some help using album easy.

Hi karlfry,

We are all entitled to make mistakes and be forgiven for them. My apologies for my comment above.

As far as AlbumEasy (and other like programs), I looked into them when doing my Australian pages as shown elsewhere on this site. To me they all looked cumbersome. Also they did not allow for a style that I wanted to portray. Personal preference I know, but I ended up using Microsoft Publisher and have been extremely happy that I did.

MS Publisher is relatively simple to use, once you know how and you learn and come up with tricks along the way for sizing, spacing etc. It also has the advantage of learning a program that is useful in real life should you be in an office environment.

The cost of it might be a concern though. I went online to eBay, and found a copy of Microsoft Ultimate 2007 for $100 second hand. Not the latest version, but more than suitable for my needs. Keep in mind that the different versions of Office have different programs within them, so make sure Publisher is one of those programs. The different versions (years) of Office have different programs also, so be carefull with your purchase. Also some versions of office allow you to install on a main computer and notebook so long as it is reasonable to assume that you are the principal user of both - that being only one is used at a time. 'Ultimate' 2007 falls into this category. 'Professional' 2007 does also. 'Home and Student' does not, but 'Home & Student' does not contain Publisher anyway (read the User Agreement).

Cheers,
David.

Edit: Word and Powerpoint, while powerful Office programs, are not designed or particularly suitable for album pages. They could be used as such, but it would take a lot work. In the MS Office Suite, Publisher is the program you want for your project.

Karlfry,
If you want to continue to try to use AlbumEasy, I can help you. I use it extensively and can provide you with examples. It produces album pages that look very like Bill Steiner's pages. It is a wonderful tool for creating the extra pages that you need to fill gaps where Bill missed something.

Regards ... Tim.

re: Not computer smart, need some help using album easy.

I am an old school computer guy. I learned COBAL and BASIC in college and graduate school, respectively. So when I opened up AlbumEasy, I felt right at home.

I found the command structure to be straight forward and after a page or two relatively easy to follow. After I created my first two pages, I started to cut, paste and adjust for all of my future pages. I could easily check my work by saving the notebook page, clicking on AlbumEasy’s Generate tab and opening the PDF file containing my album.

It took me a while to figure out how to use the fonts loaded on Windows, but eventually, through hit or miss, I was able to download those fonts to the program and once done I found it easy to switch from one font to another.

The one issue I have is the page boarder. I wish there was a way to make more attractive boarders. It would be nice if you could download the boarders used by MS Word or something from the Internet. Perhaps I missed something here. If someone else has figured this out, I’d love to hear from you.

Overall, I give AlbumEasy a solid “B”. And you can’t beat the price, either.
