Purchased 1931 #692 the other day, and when I went to my album it indicated stamp was "light blue." Other sources I looked at also indicate it to be light blue. This stamp is not light blue. At first I thought I had been hoodwinked with a 1922 version, but the perfs check out at 11 x 10.5 --it is the 1931 rotary press printed stamp. I went on Ebay and saw that other examples of 692 show green as well, and some have a more bluish tint.

I am rather new to US stamps, so I expect the more knowledgeable US collectors can set me on the path of enlightenment. Either that or I am color blind. I am curious blue -- or green

Thanks,
Eric

Both this stamp, and its perf 11 counterpart are known for various shades, including light greenish blue, which is what this looks like. Why Scott doesn't list shades for this stamp, I do not know.

Thank you Michael.
Yes I later found on eBay someone selling five shades of this stamp, from light green to dark blue. Also, it is my opinion that if you go from blue to green it is a bit more than "shades" -- it's a different color!! Happy

Scott Specialized, under the perf 11, lists 563 as greenish blue, and 563a as light bluish green. So one is blue and one is green. They do not apparently think the same difference applies to the rotary stamps.
