Oh, yeah. They're thick and robust. At least my Scott National are.

The earlier editions of the international album had much thinner paper than the new editions of today.
I have purchased collections in mounts on the older thin pages and it does feel like there would be a greater chance of tearing, especially if there were a lot of mounts and on both sides of the page.
I have the newer pages that are considerably thicker, and I have no problems using mounts as needed.

The International pages are printed on 24 lb. paper. Terry is right. Scott went down to 20lb. paper in the 1970s. Compare that to normal printer paper that most use is 20 lb.
I use International pages, and use mounts without any problem, even with the 20 lb. paper. All my stamps are in mounts. Be careful turning the pages (turn them slowly). Rarely, but it can happen, two mounts on facing pages can get jammed causing damage to the mounts and possibly damage to the stamp. Turn the pages slowly, do not over-fill the binder with pages, and you should be all right.
Just FYI, I also use Steiner pages, and print those front and back on 24 lb. paper. No problems with the paper or mounts. Of course with the Scott specialty pages, which I also use, that problem doesn't exist.
I would not recommend using 20 lb. paper for stamp album pages. They are too flimsy and easily tear.
