Hi Everyone. I have recently acquired a new niche to my stamp collecting hobby - Postal Covers. These can be letters and Used FDCs, but I really like Advertising Covers especially, as they combine the aesthetic with the historical - very cool. My question is, what are peoples opinions on whether purchasing Higgins and Gage is worth it. I would purchase U.S. first and then add more later. Is the cost worth it? Advertising covers are becoming very difficult to come across, so I'll usually purchase one if I find it. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks!

re: Higgins & Gage

Higgins & Gage is a catalog for issued postal stationary (Aerograms, letter sheets, postcards and stamped envelopes). Is would not be of use for First Day Covers or letters with stamps affixed. Advertising covers might be privately printed on postal stationary items. However, although the basic postal stationary item might be found in Higgins & Gage, the advertising additions are not found there.

For classic advertising covers the bible is the American Illustrated Cover Catalog - David G. Phillips 1981.
