Release of a Commemorative Stamp on Saint Teresa on the occasion of her Canonization on 4th Sep 2016.
A happy day for India and for the world.
Mother Teresa was the recipient of numerous honours, including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. On 19 October 2003, she was beatified as "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta". A second miracle was credited to her intercession by Pope Francis, in December 2015, paving the way for her to be recognised as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Her canonization is scheduled for Sunday, 4 September 2016 at the Vatican, a day before the 19th anniversary of her death thereafter she will be known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta.
There will be other canonizations, but this is perhaps the key canonization in what is the key year, the Year of Mercy.
A special cover to be released commemorating the event and several countries to release stamps.
