I am new on here, and not originally a collector - although I may be heading that way! I am a UK citizen from London, staying most of the time in Bulgaria, where I have spent time sorting out the stamp collection inherited from an old Uncle. This is quite an old collection, say from the 1850's to around 1950. I have gradually tried to learn what is of interest/value, and what is not, but it's not an easy journey! I have uploaded a large amount onto Google Drive, and if anyone can help or advise (this is an International collection) I could send them the Link. Many thanks.

re: Hi from an ex-pat

Welcome to the board. It would be interesting if you could give a little information about which countries or themes you have in your collection.

Why not post a few images here of what you have, particularly anything you might want any advice about.

There are a number of worldwide collectors here who will be happy to help.

If you need any help with uploading images here, just shout. Note that this board does not need a hosting site like Imgur, Photobucket and Google Drive. Images are stored on this site, so if you remove images from one of these hosting sites later on, this board will not be affected. This preserves the integrity of the posts and threads here.

Hi Planinamel;

Hello and a warm welcome to a new member from Bulgaria. I sincerely hope that you enjoy your time here, and make many new friends. Post on here as often as you like.

I like collecting world-wide. I enjoy the stamps of Great Britain, but I also like Eastern European nations too, including Bulgaria, Russia, especially imperial, and also Czechoslovakia, before it split up.

You are not a collector yet, however taking over the preservation of your uncle's stamps, is a great way to remember and honor his memory. My dad never collected anything, but I honor his memory by enjoying those activities he loved the most; hunting, fishing, hiking in the woods and the outdoors in general.

Once you start to buy a few stamps on here and anticipate their arrival and then open the package of goodies, you will discover what a great hobby this is. Your membership includes access to and use of our auctions for both buying and selling off duplicates. In addition our approvals are also included in your membership. all the stamps on a page are the same price. Most of them sell for 5¢ ea. to a dollar or so.

If you want to, give us a link to your stamps, so we can share. And also post a few of the ones, you want to learn more about. I have done this, several times and learned more from this site than decades of collecting before the internet.

If you go to Members > Search > enter the country near the bottom of the form, you may find members near you, or near where you lived in London. Also try to Google for stamp clubs in Bulgaria to see if there are local clubs near you.

I think there are at least 6 or so members in Bulgaria.

Just stampin'....
