Hi Rob;
That is a beautiful set of themed stamp pages. Not only are the stamps beautiful, but the custom page layouts are stunning, and thank you for sharing with us.
I always try to look for the nicer themed stamps. I make sure all the members that like those themes, are made aware or any auctions I have for them. Then I know they are going to someone who will take good care of them and enjoy them as much as I do.

Thanks for the compliment, the themed stamps especially about wildlife, marine life and the world of insects will always produce the most beautiful pages. I have a few themed pages in mind, at the moment I am working on Australian butterflies.

Great page of really beautiful birds, always loved the wildlife programs, all the way back to Hans and Lotte Hass.
Thanks for showing (and all your other pages).
I notice that you trim your mounts quite close, I tend to leave more room around the sides. What do others do?

That is a beautiful set! PNG has some wonderful bird, butterfly, and orchid topicals. It is definitely one of my favorite countries to collect!

Thanks Vic for the compliment, It does look as though I have cut the mounts too short, but here's the trick; the mounts I have are clear as I use clear album pages with black page inserts.
I use a black album page, one that has the clear transparent plastic strip much higher than the stamp, then I place the stamp with the clear mount into the black page, position it in the scanner, scan it to my computer, crop the image from the scanned page and there you have it, a stamp that seems to be cut close and very straight.
But the actual protective mounts have generous sides as not to cramp the stamp.

I hope that when you do the Australian butterflies, you don't leave out the stamps depicting moths. I think they are as interesting as butterflies, tho not as colorful.
When I lived in the cabin I rented for 7 years, in the deep woods of Michigan, I often saw huge moths, late at night, fluttering around my porches. Then In the morning they would be still there but not moving much so as to not attract predators. By huge I mean about 6" or bigger wing span, and some with bodies as big as my big toe. They had huge eye-spots on their wings to make predators think they were much larger and more fearsome than they were.

If I have any moths I will definitely add them to the butterflies, and yes, I do agree they should be exhibited together. Only America can say "the deep woods" and actually mean it; what a lovely country to visit.
Your experiences with the miniature wildlife is what I would expect in such serene surroundings (it's the much bigger wild life I am more concerned of).

PaPua New Guinea has always issued what I call the world's most beautiful bird stamps, and yes, let's keep this thread alive. Hopefully I will find other Birds-of-Paradise stamps to add to my collection.

Brian Holmes has an article in SOR titled Papua New Guinea 45 toea Bird of Paradise 1991-1994 which discusses this beautiful series and the different date varieties related to this large issue. Papua New Guinea just keeps on issuing eye catching stamps like these.
