Hoping theres someone out there that has some info that may help, while checking a fairly large lot of 1d, 1 1/2d, and 2d reds.
According to the ASCS (brusden white) book the reds in the CofA should only be golden scarlet, in shades of colour, pale golden scarlet, golden scarlet, deep golden scarlet, intense golden scarlet.
While sorting one just stood out as a different colour. Apparently I have found one that isnt golden scarlet, and is actually scarlet vermilion. It is the standard looking die three, with no obvious errors or anything other that the colour to make it stand out from the crowd.
I have used the standard colour fan by stanley gibbons, and done so in a brightly lit room that is lit with natural sunlight. I use the same room for all my stamp sorting etc because of the ample natural light.
I have checked and rechecked against the colour chart, against other stamps, and gotten two other people to check as well to make sure im not seeing things.
Any info that anyone has to help me figure out this mystery would be very much appreciated.
thank you in advance, rod.

If it is not a secret why not let us in on it with some decent scans of the stamp and the ones you are comparing it with. Show back scans as well so we can see condition of the stamp in question.

A photo or two will help.
