I was looking to confirm a cancel as parcel post. Does anyone have confirmation and/or a source on this example? Purple barred circle with town (Mombasa) in center.

re: British East Africa Parcel Post?

I can find no images anywhere, but there are a number of references to that type, such as this auction description: Kenya Uganda and Tanganyika : (SG 26) 1904-07 1r green, circular violet MOMBASA barred parcel cancel, large manuscript cross on reverse, g.u. Cat £70

So this may well be confirmation.

Thanks, I have seen auction descriptions on eBay. But I have seen many things depicted there without taking them as final word. Sorta like trust in Facebook for your news in some cases. I have struck out as to some bona fide sourcing.

It will no doubt make no difference, but that description was from the July sale (no. 62) of Universal Philatelic Auctions (UK). The item probably had no image as it was deemed a minor lot.

EDIT:

Just found this image of a fine strike on an Eddie 7 2R, which you may have already seen:

Thanks again. I have not found that definitive write up, but the weight of auction evidence speaks to the bone fides of these cancels.
