The genuine stamp is perfed 11 1/2 x 12.
A note in Scott states, "The 20c and 40c exist perf. 11 1/2. These are remainders of Sardinia with forged perforations."
Thanks Micheal.
My SG catalogue of 1914 says it is perf 11 1/2, 12. There is obviously a typo, a comma instead of an x. They were even making mistakes in the "good old days".
They may not have known in 1914 that the stamps were not genuine.
I have seen this stamp before. It is a forgery.
This stamp lacks the detail of the real deal.
The stamp is a Cohn forgery
The perfs are line instead of comb
You will also notice that the left & right perfs are badly out of alignment
The embossing lacks distinct features in the hair, ear & beard.
The upper right corner element is very different from the original
This particular forgery (there are at least 3 others) is only printed in the 5, 20 and 40c.
