In my attempt to put together a better listing on the "League of Red Cross Societies" (October 2008) for submission to the American Topical Association, I'm starting to realize just why things are the way they are in both the current ATA listing, and the lack of info in Scott's in ref. to what is depicted on each stamp issue. Most of the Morocco Red Crescent issues have a picture of some type of household item I figure are very common in their homes in Morocco. Even some of the items listed in my 2011 Scott's catalog have no noted description for what is on the stamp. Is there some place where I might view such items and maybe obtain a good description of common household items from this country? At the rate this "simple" yet daunting task is headed, I'll end up being the newly appointed "expert" in the field of Red Cross issues world wide. Not a bad title, even if it is only self proclaimed I must say. I need to move on to Mozambique Red Cross issues so help is needed to get out of Morocco!!!!!!!

re: Morocco Red Crescent stamp issues

The only Morocco items I see issued in October 2008 are an Art & Culture S/S and a set of 3 honoring diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Can you please point us to the issues for which you have questions?

Are you perhaps looking for something like this? These illustrations are from the 2014 North Africa Band 4.1 Michel catalog. You can get the descriptions by entering the text into Google Translate and converting from German to English.

re: Morocco Red Crescent stamp issues

The problem with some of the Morocco issues is having no printed item name on the postage in which to locate what the item is. All the Scott's folks did was list what event the issue was for, not what is pictured on the stamp. But take a look at #'s 451, 620, 691, 736, 775, 793. Almost all of the ATA's check lists only reference what the event is that the issue is for. I'd rather have a description that helps the collector to better "confirm" the issue that they have, or are looking for. It requires much more work, but nothing made easy, was easy to accomplish to make it so for others!!!!

re: Morocco Red Crescent stamp issues

In the 2013 Scott catalog, the design for Scott #451 is listed as "Copper Bowl and Lid"... What is the problem?

In the 2013 Scott catalog, the design for Scott #620 is not identified, however the Michel catalog identifies the design as a "Kuprene Katfeekanne" (translated as a "copper coffee pot").

No picture of Scott #B13 is shown, but the design is described as "two bracelets". However, the Michel catalog clearly shows the design and correctly identifies it as "rings".

There is also no picture of Scott #B15, and Scott describes the design as "silver earrings". Michel does show the design for this stamp, and also identifies it as "silver earrings".

I should think one would be able to correctly fill in the "stamp design" data without too much difficulty. Even if one is limited to only using the Scott catalog, we should be able to capture a good 90% of the necessary information.

Very well stated Terry. Thank you for your continued assistance. As a new collector with a whole year under my belt, it will be many years before I can move out of the beginners
area and become one to answer questions such as the way you do.

I'm sure you have answers as well. It's probably just that no one has yet asked you the questions. Keep on having fun.

Cheers,
Terry.
