2874 Sq ft. For one room? It must be a suite.
yes, Thomas, it's the old PO
it will be interesting to see how its new owner deals with the contract under which he is allowed to profit from it. it should be quite informative for the remainder of his term and for the republic in general.
I recently sold a post card celebrating the old PO's grand opening. It was opened during FDR's term under then-PMG JA Farley.
Other than both believing strongly in patronage, I can't imagine two more different presidents.
if this wanders too far into politics, please feel free to delete.

Looks like a grand place! Gotta love the history here... and finished two years ahead of schedule!
Union Station, across the street from the National Postal Museum is another example of a great restoration project. Back in the my working days, I had to travel quite often to DC. I got to know the city very well.
My meetings were always around Capital Hill, so I stayed at a hotel in the area. When I first started going to DC, Union Station wasn't that great of a place to go to. The renovation work had recently begun. It is absolutely a place to check out when you are there, and not just for the trains!
I would like to go back to DC to see the renovations to the postal museum. I hear, and have seen in pictures that it looks very nice.
Washington, DC is a showcase for our country. There are plenty of bad places in the city, but there are plenty of good places as well. I guess in a way that summarizes who and what we are. We are a good country with some bad and everything in-between, and we are not afraid to let the world see what we are. We even put the good and the bad on our stamps.
I remember it well
I wonder if they posted a Moved Notice on the door
Chris, when you get there your first order as Postmaster General should be to outlaw self adhesive stamps.
Tony
I second that.
Tony
Does anybody by now knows how I feel about self adhesives?
Tony
Let us know how you REALLY feel, Tony!
I hadn't been paying attention. I just assumed the new Trump hotel was a new structure and didn't realize it was the old PO!
