He states in the description that the stamp may have been regummed. I believe that the stamp was regummed as the perforations are much too clean. It could also be a #150. If I were going to buy from this seller, I wouldn't buy this stamp without a certificate.
It also looks to me that it has been repaired.
Well, the winner (loser!), with 188 transactions, put in his maximum bid on Jan 3rd, and beat out a newbie with 52 transactions.
Life can be a harsh teacher, but the problem is that this poor schnook will probably go through life proud of the great deal he made ... while the newbie doesn't know how lucky he was!
Is there some way of letting the buyer or EBay know about this rip-off?
Hmmm.....
To me, it appears that there is a secret mark on the right scroll but appears very faint on my screen. That would make it #188 valued at $1800 in my 2013 Scott Specialized. If there is no secret mark then it is #187 valued at $3250. This assumes that the stamp is on "soft porous paper." There appear to be 9 total major Scott numbers assigned to the 10c banknote with various papers, grills secret marks, lines, etc. Most I can't tell from the photo on ebay.
Assuming that it is 188, then the purchase price was about 10% of Scott - which would be about right (for many collectors) for a stamp with minor defects. This one may have a major repair on the left side.
Anyway, I didn't plan to get so involved with a stamp that I have no desire to acquire. Just my thoughts. I just hope it isn't #209.

You used to e able to but now you don't know who the buyer is. Back when I started most user ID's were your email address and we all helped each other out. You also could look at what someone www bidding on and what they had won. It was a lot better that way.

Per SwedishTiger, MH #187 is $250-#445. MH #188 is $1000-$1700.
OK, Swedish Tiger is?
I wouldn't use theswedishtiger.com as a pricing reference, as there's no indication of how many eBay samples comprise the dollar figures listed, what condition those stamps were in or other attributes, when the prices were last updated or by whom. Furthermore, eBay prices are not THE definitive price; no such animal.
Scott, at least is an industry standard, and people know to how to treat the prices... e.g., VF grade, discount accordingly (or not, depending on the area or specialty), etc.
Reality vs theory...

Sure, if I were still collecting, I'd like to buy only MNH, but that's not how life works for most of us. If the back of these stamps offends you, then good for you. You must have a hell of a collection!
With about 4 hours to go, this US '#188' is underbid ... perhaps because the more knowledgeable are aware of the missing secret mark, making this a '187'.
