Nice
VERY nice!
Lovely stamps! Engraved, decisively vignetted, monochrome ... all my faves!
You are correct that copper is (relatively) soft.
Q/ So what were the advantages of using copper plates? Availability post-Versailles?
Cheers,

These are without a challenge my favorite German stamps. Printed on copper engraved plates. Stamps showing the Reichs main post office and Genius (Roman God) representing the union of North and South Germany, taken from a painting by Anton von Werner
.
The copper plates were a soft material to use so there a lot of flaws you can search for.
These stamps were overprinted in 1920
A few of these have horizontal perforated margins on either the right or left side.
