Hello folks,

I'm looking at the Washington / Franklin Identifier on Stampsmarter.com and I'm looking at the "locks of hair" page http://www.stampsmarter.com/1847usa/washfrank/2cA09.html

"The bottom two locks of hair do not extend to the vertical lock of hair just to the right of them. This is another defining feature of Type I and Ia stamps."

For the life of me I can't tell what's being described or what to look for! I was wondering if somebody on Stamporama would be willing to take an image of the Washington I'm trying to identify and drop some arrows into it to show me what I'm supposed to be looking for?

As always, thanks so much for your patience and insight.

Ooooh, That's perfect. I was looking all over the place trying to figure out what "lock of hair" I was looking for. The arrow helped immensely.

I feel like it'd be helpful if they centered the thing you were looking for in the examples.

Thanks so much Don!

re: Washington/Franklin Identifier Question

This page originally was a part of Bob Allen's 1847usa website. When the site went off-line we all lost a great resource. So I approached Bob and he was kind enough to send me all the files so they could be continue to be available to all online hobbyists as a part of Stamp Smarter.

I like your idea and have made a few other improvements to Bob's original content but hate to fiddle with it too much for fear of straying from Bob's original intent.
