Many people have contacted me regarding slowness on Stamporama screens. I have done some database maintenance that seems to be improving the general performance of the system. If you experience slowness on a particular screen or function, please make a post on this thread and include the following information:

1. What function were you trying to do?
2. What screen were you on?
3. What was the time of day? Please include your time zone.
4. How long was the delay?

Thanks for your help on this.

Regards ... Tim.

re: Slowness on Stamporama screens

Tim - uploading images is an ongoing problem. Doesn't matter what time of the day. Some days its 2-3 seconds for an auction image, other times its 3-5 minutes. Sometimes you can refresh the screen and reload the image and it loads. Other times it does not. I had been having multiple tabs open to upload actions and that works better but we now know the problem with doing that is getting bounced out of SOR until Roy resets it.

I have gotten quite good at Free Cell......

I have decided to no longer do the images individually but rather bulk load them. I suspect that it will increase the performance tremendously

11:43 AM CDT

I went from the members page to VIEW MESSAGES. The change in screens took about 5 seconds. I sent you a test message, it took 10 seconds to cycle.

I do notice a better response time overall. I was moving around the Discussion Board and the auction area without much trouble.

re: Slowness on Stamporama screens

Hi Tim - I have no auctions left to upload this week. I'd have to create them and load them tomorrow. Like I said, there are times I can upload 100 auctions one at a time in 45 minutes or less. There are other times that it takes me twice that. They are almost always done at 3PM on a Wednesday afternoon. The Monday night ones (around 7:30) are more consistent. If you want to try to set up an exact time tomorrow I'll try to accommodate

I have not seen any unusual slowness. I am not uploading anything though.

I do like the clean uncluttered look of the forum and always like the fact when you open a thread previously read you jump to the first unread message.

I take it back...this am I visited SOR several times and it stops loading at the initial screen. I see the upper part (Home, Show Topics, etc) but the rest follows about 2 to 3 seconds later.

Tim,

I don't know why, but as of yesterday all pages here at SOR seem to be loading up much faster than ever.....almost instantaneously.

Nothing has changed as far as my PC setup, provider, etc......

re: Slowness on Stamporama screens

On a positive note,I just bulk uploaded my auction images for tonights auctions. Total time 33 seconds for 33 images. Undoubtedly this is the way to do auctions, rather than the single image for the auction that is bring uploaded.

And I just did the auctions. 27 auctions in 17 minutes. The increase in speed is due to a) not waiting for the image load and b) one less screen (add image) when you can just cut and paste from the uploaded images. Far superior!
