re: (Glassine stuck on back)

Are you trying to salvage the sheet for philatelic purposes or are you wanting to use the $500 FV as postage?

Somewhere in the past I have heard the suggestion to put the item in the freezer for a couple of days.

I have had postage like that - thankfully lower face value - and I have had good luck with breaking the glassine with a sharp pointed tons at one of the bends and then workin it back and forth very slowly and effectively popping the glassine. Many times, I was able to save the whole sheet although not always. Icebox first is a great idea.

Even if you are successful in removing the stuck glassine completely using the freezer trick, the gum will still be disturbed gum.

I may give the freezer trick a go here. This almost complete sheet has glassine stuck to much of the back of it. You can see it at the top of the page, to the left of the BEP logo on the top selvage.
