No, probably not.
I guess a case could be made, because they don't deliver the mail or pay for any service one gets from the PO, but they have a specific purpose and have a value, even if it's not monetary, per se.
Cinderellas have no value on their own, but only what others ascribe to them.

Yeah, I thought it was quite a stretch. I did a search and only found one topic within the forum concerning ration stamps, so I didn't really think they would tie in.
Still, I find them interesting and will likely add a few in the future.
Thanks for your opinion David, much appreciated!

I have a two booklets, one of which was used by my grandparents. i don't know if that qualifies as being a collector. I am not aware of any publications related to these stamps.
I also have 2, the one shown is book no.3. The other is book no.2 and was issued to my Grandpas niece, about 2/3 of the stamps are missing from it.

I have some booklets Nos 3 &4 plus cover of No.2 with OPA label affixed. Also from Great Britain including Fuel and Food plus others worldwide. They make for a very interesting collection.
All my booklets were acquired from a market dealer of Militaria in my home town in the UK.
The search is part of the fun.
Get going is my advice, you will love the chase !
There is some literature too but cannot put my hand on the information just now. Will come back here when found.

Thanks Londonbus1.
A Google search revealed some info, but no real trail to follow. Wikipedia had a little info on countries that issued war ration stamps, but again, no real detailed information. From the listings on Ebay, it looks like a reasonably inexpensive venture and a collection that would be fairly easy to build on and maybe learn from.
Appreciate the input,
WB
I googled 'Ration stamps and Books' and got some good results with lots of extras at some sites including 'Genealogy today' which gives some very useful newspaper clippings.
Jump around, lots of stuff available.
Good luck and don't ration your searches to once a month !!

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans has an extensive collection of ration books and stamps.

By pure happenstance, my sister texted me yesterday asking about a ration book with stamps from world war 2 and a stamp saving's book with stamps from the same period that my mother found when they were going through some of her things this past weekend!
Would these be considered Cinderellas?
I came across these several years ago while clearing out my grandpas estate. If my family history is correct, they were issued to one of his nephews, who died later in the same year.(1942-43)
I did a little research on Ration Stamps this p.m. and found that there was quite a variety issued worldwide during WWII. I may start a collection of them and build off the ones I have.
Does anyone here collect these and/or have any advise on putting a collection together?
