I`m thinking that the only stamps with aviation info are the airplane stamps What do you think?
There are so many airmail stamps with stories, it's "where do I start"?
Almost every US commemorative airmail stamp has a story about aviation pioneers behind it.
See if we can get Bob I. in here to talk about the French aviation pioneer Jean Mermoz!
And of course, you have started your husband off with the beginnings of a collection of FDCs of William Piper and the Piper Cub .... right??

Thankyou Roy and Randy....I messaged you both....Now off to find more Piper Cubs on covers
In addition to U.S. Airmail stamps, there were 3 stamps issued between 1995 and 1999 that were Aviation themed, but not recognized as Airmail stamps. That was the period when "AIRMAIL" was no longer printed on the stamps, but before the jet silhouette showed up. By any reasonable standard, these SHOULD be Airmail stamps given the subject matter and the fact that they were issued at the contemporary International Rate (just like the silhouette stamps):
2998 Rickenbacker
3066 Cochran
3330 Mitchell
Cheryl,
Scanned below, from my collection, is a souvenir folder containing a USA first day cover for the Sperry airmail stamp, Scott #C114. This folder was given to all employees of Sperry Corporation in 1985. The first scan shows the outside of the folder, the second scan shows the inside cover of the folder telling the aviation story of Lawrence & Elmer Sperry, and the third scan shows the actual first day cover. This is one of those items in my collection where the folder is worth more to me than the actual first day cover inside it. For more info, check out the two links below, and be sure to tell your husband!

My husband ,in his younger years, flew a Cub plane on floats and again at the age of 70 flew another on wheels landing at the local airport ..He is also an avid R/C model builder and pilot.. In checking through my USA collection I noted the reference to early aviation in the use of large arrows that were placed across the US to guide the early flyers across the country. These arrows and Beacons (like the Sherman Hill Beacon ) with 5 million candlelight power guide the pilots. This arrow and beacon are shown on the US airmail stamp C11 My husband was most interested in that stamp story...
I am wondering if our members could add to this new collection (Stamps that tell Aviation Stories) with suggestions or information...Always looking for stamps to collect and interest my aviation partner
