I buy my Hawid mounts from Golden Valley Stamps for $8.05 for a pack of 25 strips.
I buy Prinz mounts from Washington Press:
$7.50 for sizes 20 through 33, 22 strips of 215 mm length per package
$7.50 for sizes 36 through 61, 15 strips of 215 mm length per package
Prinz has many sizes from 63 to 89 and a few 100+ in 240 mm strips, but I often have to buy Scott Gard for specific sizes over 90 mm. I usually buy pre-cut for specific souvenir sheets in the larger format for US, but I've had to adapt for some foreign S/S in my Topical collection.
I have noticed no difference in quality between Prinz and Scott Gard, and they may be made by the same manufacturer.
I think the biggest difference isn't quality, but whether you prefer a top loading mount that is easier to change stamps and is less likely to bend a perf, or if you prefer the more secure split back mount that is far less likely to have a stamp fall out but really should be removed to change out stamps. (I get two uses per mount since only half of the back is adhered to the album in most cases).

This subject has been discussed before. However you might also try, www.showgardseconds.com. I've bought a lot of mounts here and have never found a bad spot on any of them. I might also mention that these packets contain twice as many Showgards, for the same amount of money, since they are supposedly "seconds". I have been using these "seconds" for many years and have yet to find a bad spot or flaw in any of them. I recommend you give them a try. They have clear and black.

I have purchased from many sources.
Stamp-mounts.com sells the 215mm strips for $4.69. The shipping is free over $150 so not the best deal on smaller orders.
Richmond, As to one of your questions that has not been answered; Hawid are excellent mounts.
I prefer top loading mounts. The cheapest way I have found to get them is to buy 60,90 and 120mm split back mounts. I then cut the strips lengthwise down the split with a shear. This then yields 2 strips which can be further cut down to fit most any stamp. This will keep you from having to keep many different sizes around or having to wait on oqrders on sizes you do not have. I will usually search Ebay to find the best prices on the split back mounts to cut down. You'll need a couple different size shears but it works great and is as cheap as you can get mounts.
I did an experiment this weekend taking split backs and cutting them lengthwise then to desired width. I am testing retention ability. The challenge is more modern non-engraved stamps (after 1960) start varying dramatically in height so a challenge.
I have been purchasing 217mm long Lighthouse mounts from a distributor in Australia who charges between AUD15.95 to AUD18.95 (approx. 11 to 13USD) for a pack of 25 strips.
I was perusing the web and noted that a UK distributor is selling Hawid mounts at around GBP15.00 (say USD20.00 or AUD30.00) for a pack of 100 mounts
At first glance it appears I am getting ripped off for the Lighthouse mounts or perhaps the Hawid mounts are very low quality.
I would be interested to hear what the cost of strips of 25 or 100 mounts is in the US
Further who is the 'go to' manufacturer of mounts for collectors in the US
Regards
Richmond
