Hi to all,
This is one of the stamps I have from the family accumulation of Australian States.

Is the image due to aniline ink, or a contact ink image from stamps resting on top of partially dried stamps.

All comments appreciated.

re: STATE OF VICTORIA, ANILINE OR CONTACT IMAGE ?

The reverse image is too identical for it to be a foreign image from partially dried stamps resting on top of it, it looks more like aniline.

Many of these early 1d reds will quickly bleed/lose their ink in water.
