re: Is This Turkey or??

It is Turkey, but the color isn't correct in the image.

The "O" = 5, and the dot = zero, so it is a 50 piaster face value stamp.

The closest I can get you is:

Scott #437 (carmine)
Scott #438 (indigo)
Scott #439 (green on straw-colored paper)

You'll have to decide what color your stamp is. The catalog values for each run a few dollars. Maybe someone else can chime in with what this could be, like an unissued essay. Maybe that color, if it is accurate in your image, was used for non-postal purposes like telegraph or revenue. I just don't know that answer.

Thanks! The color is Indigo. Don't know why the color washed out in digital photo!
