What, exactly, is this? I have a ton of them. The reverse side is always blank. I assume they are valueless. Thank you.

It is a postal card, favor canceled (likely first day).

A butterfly thematic collector might pay you $0.50-$1.00 just to have it, but will probably want to buy enough to warrant the postage cost (a common refrain here on Stamporama)

Britain's post office postcards were very plain in comparison.Sad

Even these seem to have stopped. The last ones that I know of were issued back in 2007 to commemorate the centenary of the Scouts.

I have quite a few German ones. They will be used as stiffeners in envelopes once I have used up my current Channel Islands Presentation Pack ones.
