we have a number of folks who are quite schooled in errors; Dan Cohen studies early US for such things.
you may already know this, but there are errrors, then there's freaks. We see, and usually value, them differently. An error is the absolute absence of a thing that ought to be there: a color, perforations, for instance. Freaks are things that are different than intended, but don't manifest the absolute absence of a thing. In the latter, perforation or color registration shifts are good examples.
