Wow! That's a great postcard! One of my best postcards came from an antique store, too. How much did you pay for it. I can easily see a postcard dealer putting a $20 or $30 price on it, maybe more.
The picture side is interesting. My wife's grandfather, when he was young, got robbed in Oregon early in the 1900s and found a job riding shotgun on a stagecoach. Shades of the Wild West!

Thanks, Bob. I paid one US dollar, plus 6 cents Iowa sales tax for this postcard. I liked the RPO cancel, the handwriting, and the stagecoach with horses. I have visited Avalon on Catalina Island, California back in the 1970s. It is a rugged, rocky island out from Los Angeles by ferry boat, but I did not know that they used to use a stagecoach to get around Catalina Island back in 1902.
As far as value goes, I guess it is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.
As you know, Bob, I like to check out small-town antiques stores and ask them if they have postcards for sale. I have found many "treasures" over the years that way. I have other postcards I could post on here, if you, or anybody, wants to see them.

Yes! Post more!
While I once worked as a substitute railway mail clerk, I don't collect RPO cancellations. I do collect, however, Iowa-related philatelic items (my home state) and I recently acquired this post card canceled on the Tama and Hawarden RPO because it was a route that began and ended in Iowa. Both Tama and Hawarden are small towns, Tama circa 2900 souls in 2010, and Hawarden about 2500. I don't know when the Tama & Hawarden RPO was discontinued, but that route could not have generated much passenger traffic. I never fail to be amazed at the extent of rail passenger service to small towns in the early 20th century.

I drove up to Boone, Iowa, USA today running errands and had to check out a couple antiques stores while there. I found this postcard mailed October 25, 1902 onboard a train enroute from California to Iowa. It has an El Paso & Tucson Railway Post Office (Train 10) cancellation and shows a stage coach on the Stage Road, Santa Catalina Island, California, USA with classic handwriting from that period. This one will go in my RPO album.
