I am considering purchasing this stamp but am concerned about the perfs on the left side.
They appear "doctored" compared to the other sides. Opinions anyone. No offense will be taken. Just want some opinions of others in the group.

I agree, the left side perfs look doctored. Do you have a scan of the back of the stamp?

re: IS this Stamp Reperfed?

.
Q/ Our left, or the stamp's left?

Looking at the distance between the perfs & the design, the perfs on the (our) left look pretty much parallel to the design, but the perfs on the (our) right seem to have a distinct drift.

Over the length of a sheet, that drift would have the perfs cutting the designs of other stamps.

Q/ Does one normally see that much drift in nly one of two parallel lines?

The nice sharp edges on the perfs on the upper left do not bother me, as
they might have resulted from legit trimming of a remnant of the adjacent stamp.

Cheers,

Look for pressure ridges. Although scanned on black, the resolution is not high enough to see any pressure ridges. The four perfs called out in image above have clearly been trimmed but this does not mean they were perfed. After straightening the image, the perf alignment is pretty good, the few that are not aligned may simply be bent pins.

I think that perforations require closer examination for fibers and pressure ridges. Look for slight indentations in the perf valleys in the same location for all perfs on that side, genuine perfs holes are typically elliptical and not perfectly round. Any perf holes that are too clean, without fibers are highly suspect. Fibers are typical all found on the same side of the perf holes like this Image Not Found

Viewing the stamp's face then the upper left side appears to ne re-perfed, and the bottom of the stamp doesn't look right to me either.

In my opinion, the lower right corner looks like it was "doctored" a little. A perf added to the corner, maybe?
