Could someone please tell me as to why you can see the image through the stamp? Is this stamp on thin paper?? Thankyou

There are no QE II thin paper stamps, The stamp you have is impossible to identify the denomination as there were two types printed, 1964 (£1) and 1966 ($2). Regardless of the denomination, the paper shown of your stamp is translucent (transparent), but it isn't thin paper, though thin paper is also translucent.
It is because thin paper was never used in the printing of any QE II issues from 1953-2019, a non-thin translucent paper is what you have. I notice it is cancelled.

Catalogue - Used on cream paper $25: On white paper $30.
1966
Catalogue - Used $1.25

Can't really say by the way you have scanned the stamp, If you can re-upload the stamp to the size of the stamps shown I will be able to tell the type of paper.
The stamp on the left is cream paper and the stamp on the right is white paper. Cream paper has a dull white appearance.

Thankyou, it is hard to find out if it is white or cream paper I have 1 person says it is cream and another one says it is white, so we might have a discussion here going on. Which would be good. Is there something else to look out for with the colour of the paper??

White Paper
I have increased the size of the images so the shading lines (dashes) can be clearly seen. The dashes on the cream paper are darker on the face and hair and especially around the word "AUSTRALIA". Overall, the clouds and sky are much darker in comparison to the white paper.
The shirt ruffle and lapel of the top stamp is much darker than the bottom stamp. Even though the paper may seem to appear the same, there is a distinct difference when viewing the stamps in person (the bottom stamp is a brighter white).

I can see the heavier printing, but the paper still looks the same on my monitor.
Rob, as you said, "there is a distinct difference when viewing the stamps in person" that is really required to make the final determination.

Thankyou to both of you for the great help. I can't show Rob the stamp as I live too far away. I'm only learning and I don't have another stamp to compare this stamp with I had another look but to me it does look white, perhaps as Rob said this stamp is on transparent paper perhaps that is making the stamp white?? What do some other people think?? Stamporama is a good place to learn about stamps and it is good to have discussions about stamps like me some place to learn Thankyou

The transparency of the paper does not make the paper white, it only gives the appearance of it being thin. Pity no thin papers were used for the QEII stamps, if it were, that stamp being of high face value would be worth around the $500 mark.
You can send the stamp to me if you wish, if you do decide to to send the stamp, email your address to me (it is on my profile) so I can send a pre-stamped addressed envelope to you with inserts to protect the stamp through the mailing system.
I have had stamps sent to me from all over Australia, some worth thousands of dollars to be analysed by renowned experts. I'll be able to tell yours on first sight.
I've been collecting colonial and Federation stamps for 43 years. Federation became official on January 1, 1901, we didn't have a Federal stamp (one stamp used in all states, opposed to colonial stamps made from a colony, such as Queensland had Queensland stamps, New South Wales had New South Wales stamps etc) until 1913.
Stamporama is indeed a very good place to come to for advice on a stamp(s), I can only name two others that have the same decorum.
Here is what a set of navigators look like, the top two rows are pre-decimal and the bottom three rows are decimal.

Hi Michael
It is the only way as monitors are notorious for not displaying the correct shade and colour; I’ve had the same problem as well in the past. When it comes to white and cream paper and shades, it needs to be cited, and any thin paper the stamp needs to be tested by a micrometer to determine it’s thickness.
From Queen Victoria to KGVI thin paper was used until 1952, from 1953 to the present date the government printers for the QEII stamps stopped using thin paper and imprints.
