re: Die 2

Hi Pooh

I think this is how it goes

Die one on the left hand side, just above One Penny, has a broken frame, which extends into the white part of the border

Die two has an unbroken frame in the same area.

If you find a pair with Die I and Die II joined together, then they are quite rare and valuable.

The broken frame is quite easy to see if you have a good magnifying glass or a Jewellers loupe.
One you have identified it, you will always recognize it straight away
The one you have looks like die II
Regards

Image Not Found This one with the black over it I used a torch and couldn't see any frame break at all. I kept looking at it with a torch for a few times and couldn't see a frame break and I also used a magnifying glass also

Hi Pooh

Attached is a scan of two Die one Penny red Roos

Hope this helps

The last two show close ups of the frame break in DIE I, the bottom scan is better, because it is not hidden by the postmark

Just look at the white line above the O in One, and follow the line to the left frame, the inner white frame is broken the red outside frame is intact.
