I recently picked up a small selection of stamps from Eastern Rumelia. I did a bit of research - in Scott's they are a separate listing but my Scott's International Album appears to ignore them. Should I file them separately or put them under Bulgaria? The lot has some very obscure countries, for example Aitutaki, Baden (under Germany), Brunswick (also under Germany) and a strange area called Elobey,Annobon and Corisco ( in Scott's Album ) but Eastern Rumelia is not in Scott's Album, at least I can't find it!

Elobey, Corisco, Annobon and Fernando Poo for that matter are islands in the gulf of Guinea in West Africa. Former colonies of Spain, along with Rio Muni in the mainland gain independence from Spain, in, if I recall correctly, 1968.

re: stamps from Eastern Rumelia?

Eastern Rumelia is one of the more obscure stamp issuing authorities. Many years ago I bought a dealers stock of ER which gave me a collection that is far better than most.
There were many fakes of the overprints so there is need for caution. I had an expert look at them and he concluded that most of mine were legit. Since they are scarce and only being in production from 1881-85, you are not likely to get many. I would
place them with your Bulgaria or you could also put them with Turkey as Most of the stamps are overprinted Turkish stamps or variations of them.
Below are the two pages of my collection showing all of the stamps or spaces of the issued stamps.

re: stamps from Eastern Rumelia?

Harvey: You probably have already found it but... If you check in the index of the Scotts' catalogue. Eastern Rumelia is found in Vol 2 with some overprints on stamps of that country in vol 6.

The ones in volume 6 are under Turkey cat # 542-545... from what I can see

There are as AntoniusRa mentioned very few stamps about 40. The whole selection covers all of 2 columns in the catalogue

Hope this helps
