The trident is the giveaway for Ukraine. Be warned, however, that forgeries of the overprint are common.

It seem like forgeries of most early overprints are common. I think there are so many forged overprints out there that are so hard to tell that all early overprinted stamps ( except mine or yours and sometimes I worry about yours! ) that they should all be considered as album fillers and priced as such!

The lettering looks Austrian, with the Ukrainian "eagle" or "phoenix" symbol. What country and Scott Cat. # if known would be helpful. Thanks.
