Hello, Just some information about this stamp I'm practising with working out dies Die 1 has a break in the inside frame before O of ONE. The first stamp shows this but I can't find the break in the second stamp?? I hope I have this right?? Pooh

Agreed. I can see the beak in the left hand stamp but not the right. Does this mean that this is a plate variety?

I think I can see a break on the second stamp, it looks like it is covered a little buy the postmark.
Can you show a larger scan of the the left hand corner of the second stamp.
I can see a break in the right hand side of the second stamp as well, near the Y of penny
There is a variety of Die I and Die 2 as a pair, but it is extremely rare.
A larger scan, or if you have a jewellers loupe 10X, it will be easy to find.

Cannot tell from the scan but these are die I & II
The break is quite noticeable
There is also a Die IIa

I had another look with more light and it looks like opposite the O the inside border is straight then just beside the O there is a bulge but it still looks like it is joined. Unless I can make this clearer we will never know Pooh

Here you go Horamakhet once again this is as best I can Just so people know about a couple of years ago I bought a box full of one Penny Kangaroo stamps at auction
Out of it I got one stamp with extra Tasmania, there was also one envelope with stamps in it but written on the envelope last checked in 1969.
I suppose I just got to try and make it clearer??

Where I live people talk about bulls, cattle sales, drought, stamps NO. So I'm using what I can which is a torch, magnifying glass. No corner stores so I can't get a jewellers loop. When I use the magnifying glass I check both stamps to compare the stamps. You can see die 1 on one stamp but not on the other. I even went outside with the sunlight and the same, a straight line a bit of a curved line but no break. I even used a reading lamp and the same, I have got no one else to show this to up here so I will try and make it clearer. This is all I can do Pooh

I think they are both die 1
If you want to be 100% sure, you would need to have them certified by a reputable person or organisation

You have something more confusing than a Die I & 2 or two Die I
The numerals are totally different.
- The serif on the 1
- The foot and top of the 1
- The different shape of the d's
After looking at 1000's of fakes and forgeries, one gets used to spotting things.
Unfortunately, the only area I never really looked at is Oceania so I cannot comment further.

Thankyou for the information I didn't realised the numerals 1 were different. It is good finding out different things about stamps from other people over the world. We will probably not find out why the 1's are different but Thankyou
